As part of an ongoing partnership with Škoda, Bridgestone has developed tyres featuring its ground-breaking ENLITEN Technology for the all-electric Škoda Enyaq iV. ENLITEN Technology helps reduce tyre weight and rolling resistance while supporting the Enyaq’s handling and wet grip.
To meet Škoda’s demanding standards for handling, wear, efficiency and longevity, Bridgestone developed Turanza Eco tyres with ENLITEN Technology that reduces tyre rolling resistance by up to 30% and weight by up to 20%, helping the Enyaq iV offer up to 529km electric range. Tyres with ENLITEN Technology are also lighter, requiring up to 2kg less raw materials per tyre.
Škoda Enyaq iV is the latest in a line of VW Group’s electric models to feature tyres with ENLITEN Technology, following the Audi Q4 e-tron, Volkswagen ID.3/ID.4/ID.5, and Cupra Born. For the Enyaq iV, Turanza Eco tyres with ENLITEN Technology are available in 18, 19, 20, and 21 inch size.
Bridgestone also developed the tyres for the Enyaq iV using its proprietary Virtual Tyre Development technology, which reduces the number of prototype tyres as well as the amount of physical testing required. Virtual Tyre Development can cut raw material consumption and CO2 emissions during the development phase by up to 60 per cent, while speeding up time to market by up to 50 per cent – overall making tyre development more sustainable, efficient, accurate and flexible.
Efficient, sustainable, and fun to drive, Škoda Enyaq iV delivers many of the values encompassed in the Bridgestone E8 Commitment. Comprising eight focus areas in total – Energy, Ecology, Efficiency, Extension, Economy, Emotion, Ease and Empowerment – the Bridgestone E8 Commitment helps collectively steer the company’s strategic priorities, decision making and sustainability efforts throughout every area of the business and operations.
Bridgestone sees electric mobility as a huge opportunity to reduce CO2 emissions, to help shape a more sustainable future of mobility for all and is proud to be collaborating with Škoda in helping to accelerate this electric future. EV tyres represent around 11% of Bridgestone EMIA’s total OE line-up for passenger cars – rising from just 4% in 2019. This figure is expected to reach over 20% in 2024.
Based on Bridgestone internal data comparing Bridgestone premium summer tyres with and without ENLITEN Technology in the same tyre size (92Y 225/40R18 XL).
